Ruby Hornsby is a Teaching Fellow in Applied Ethics at The University of Leeds. 

She was awarded her doctorate in AI Ethics from Leeds University in January 2026, which addressed the question Can Humans and Robots Be Friends? Her book Aristotle and The Limits of AI Companionship is forthcoming with Bloomsbury in 2027.

She is also a part-time postgraduate researcher for:
1. The Ethical Dating Online Project: A network of academics, industry professionals and charities working together to make online dating safer and more fulfilling (Leeds University). 
2. A Research Project which investigates young people's experiences with UK police (Nottingham University). 

Ruby is organising the Leeds regionals of The Ethics Cup 2027 (registration is now open). She is also the founder of Wiser Debate Club, a philosophical debate club for people aged 65+ in Leeds and Nottingham, which has been awarded funding to expand to other UK cities.
